I’ve had an odd creaking sound that sounds like it’s the same one many have posted about that assume it was steering, ball joints or suspension. After a few thoughts and listens I’ve found what many of you should check because it’s super simple and makes TOTAL sense.
The Wrangler uses the transfer case/tranny skid plate as a cross member, make sure the surface area where it’s bolted down is clean, smooth and has a good anti rust coating and torque the bolts down.
Simple 5 minute fix and relieved the source of the obnoxious noise has been identified and corrected.
