I have a 4cyl manual that is currently running metalcloak 3.5inch coils that are netting me 4.5inches in the front and 4.75-5inches in the rear. Has always been close to that with a hard top and spare and without the spare or hard top is definitely taller. I want to get Currie/ rock jock coils but am unsure of which coil will actually give me 3-4in of lift height.
I went to the weight scale today and this weight is as pictured below. (Me in the driver seat which I weight 190lb, a Dana 44 in the rear rather than a Dana 35, 33s, hard top, full doors, backseat, bottle jack and all my tools on the inside of the tailgate, steel rear bumper, steel sliders, all steel skids under, aluminum front bumper with a 10k winch. The only thing I don’t have is a spare tire off the back which I do plan on putting back. The hope is to have it fairly level with the hard top and then a little factory rake with the soft top.
The overall weight is 3,920lb with 1880lb being on the front and 2,040lb on the rear.
I have no data to look at besides “my Jeeps heavy and my Jeep is light”. I think overall my Jeep is light especially when I swap to half doors and soft top since I’m also a 4cyl but not sure if the added steel added enough to counter that.

Would the 2in front Currie coils net me close to 3in? Would the 3in rear net 3in fully loaded and then closer to 4in with the soft top?

We really need to crowd source a chart...but... while it's easy enough to fys scale to weight the vehicle you really need weight from each wheel to be accurate. I'd love for us to crowd source a spring chart.

I know my 97 4.0 gained 2" going from OP installed ProComp springs to Currie 4". 4400 lbs almost 50/50.

I bought a set of Currie 3" coils from another member on here. I'll be curious to see how much lift they actually provide. I'll be replacing some H and R 1 ½ lift springs that were actually yielding no measurable lift over stock so... Not sure what to expect with the Curries.

are they used? I wonder how much difference between new and used in terms of lift. let us know how it turns out

Oh sweet I havnt seen that sheet before so that definitely helps. I also sent an email to max at rock jock to get an estimate. He responded asking for the measured lengths of the coil at ride height which I forgot to do. I have now measured and my front coil is sitting at 17in at ride height and the rear is at 12in. So I believe I’m getting 5in of lift out the front and 4in in the back. I would like to outboard one day thus the concern of travel the spring can support but I’m also not dying for 12in exactly since I know only the 4in Currie can do that. I post what ever max says and a follow up up on what i actually install.

The rears had only been used for mock-up and the fronts had a couple thousand miles on them I believe so if I'm getting less than advertised lift, it's probably the weight of my rig rather than the springs sagging. I'm planning to install them in the next few weeks hopefully to take measurements for shocks. I'll update this thread with my results.

My experience with 3" rear currie springs on a 6cyl,steel fender, steel corner armor and rockers rig was around 1.5" lift. The 3.5" rear coils get me 2" lift.
I've been meaning to stop at a scale and weigh my jeep some time. Part of me doesn't want to know just how heavy it is though 😂

I’m so curious on that weight now too. Honestly that’s good news bc I was worried the 3in would give me 4.5in or something crazy but it seems like il definitely have a currie option that will be right around the 3-4in while still being the longer soft coils. My other options were the bds 3inch but they’re shorter and stiffer than I would like even if they’re cheap as dirt.

If i remember it right, the 3" curries are 15" free length and the 3.5s are 17" free.

I forgot to mention,I also had 150lbs of tools in the back of my tj when I measured the 3.5s lift on install

I know the 3.5 inch was 1in shorter than the 4in with the same rate (giving it a .5in ride height drop between the 2) but I just assumed the 3in was the same 1inch shorter than the 3.5in coils. I’ll be interested to see what max from Rockjock says since the 3in is so different than the 3.5 as well as I think my front is so much lighter than others so both coils are definitely up in the air rn.

Was hoping for a little more math than that but I guess I just have to try.

Speaking of spring lengths, what are you getting front and rear with your all aluminum diet?

The weight has not changed much since the more recent aluminum stuff went on. Haven't measured the springs specifically in quite a while. What I do know is that my shocks are very close to 6" up, 6" down on both ends, which is where I built them to be.

Ya I was a little disappointed in maxs response. I am more inclined to do the 3in front (21.6inches uncompressed) and the 3.5in rear (17inches uncompressed) since they’re only 1inch shorter than the 4inch. While this might be taller than I want the ultimate goal it to have that 50/50 split with outboards. Let that be 10/11in travel rather than 12 and live with the height. I wanted to go a little lower since I’m wheeling less but my goal of the jeep is still as capable and built right of a jeep as possible and not sacrificing up travel for looks.
