Daily Driver, Go Where I Want To Build

The one I would buy to replace the old one is $750 šŸ¤£

Whoa, how!

edit - the cost for the mount! I did not realize the mount was that much.

To install highline fenders, the amps need to be moved from under the steering column...

To under the seat.

After throwing away Jerry's fire extinguisher mount, start by cutting up half of an ill fitting CavFab cowl armor panel for the new amp mount to replace the plywood.

Under the seat is a button for the carpet and a plastic clip for the seat belt sensor. The amp mount will be clearanced to fit around these.

Using the cutoffs as a template, mill out a pocket for the seat belt sensor clip.

When the router bushing is taller than the cowl armor template thickness, throw a handful of washers under the router to create room.

Measure and drill a big hole where the button is.

Test fit.

Remove the seat. Drill the mounting plate for mounting bolts and mark the tub for nutserts. Drill and tap the plate to fasten the amps.

Reinstall the seat.

And hide a day's worth of work under a flap of carpet.

Between yesterday and today, I also was able to clean up the excess wire tangles around the winch controller and I finalized the terminations on the fuse block.

Other than a couple small changes I am in no hurry to do, I think everything in the engine bay is finally done.

Quite the journey/rabbit hole this highline job has been! Stoked to see all the progress, all this detail work will definitely be worth it in the end, it also has shown me how much simpler highlines are to install with a 2.5 šŸ˜‚šŸ˜‚

I have been eyeing those element ones but not now. It didn't really do anything and he really got in there. Looked like the 5lb or the b/c worked the best in the video.

Here's Rory's comment

Tested at 5:47 in this one and at 11:03

Element sticks are no good. You are going to want to keep a real fire extinguisher close by.

If I were to stay with my 5lb ABC extinguisher, I see no reason to move it elsewhere from the front of the driver's seat where it has been nearly forever.

That means I still need a mount. All the cheap mounts I see are copies of the Drake mounts.

I would lean towards the Drake. Unless there is another option I am not aware of that isn't multiple latches or Velcro straps.

What, Jerryā€™s ā€œAnkle Breakerā€ wouldnā€™t work for you?

It worked fine and never fell out in 10 years, even though the mount was breaking apart. Since I'm replacing everything else connected to the fenders, I might as well do something better here. šŸ¤£

Synergy may or may not be better than the ones you posted, I have no experience with it, and it's $40 plus shipping

The knob annoys me because it says Synergy. If it says anything at all, it needs to be directions for use. That alone is worth an additional $37.
