Dana 35 pinion / carrier bearing removal

I know this isn't on subject but I need help for a temporary fix to get me back and forth to work until I can get the front diff replaced or upgraded to a 44 is there a way to drive it without the gears turning or something to stop the vibration grinding until then

Remove the axle shafts, drain the gear oil in the front axle and then plug the axle tubes with paper towels or rags.

You need to remove the axle u-joints and reinstall the axle stub shafts to the unit bearings and torque them to 175 ft lbs. Otherwise you will lose a wheel - the stub keeps the bearing halves together.

So did you give it a try?

I was so close but could never make myself hit the order button. I believe I could have done it--just not sure how long it would have taken me. With three young kids, finding time for Jeep projects can be challenging. I was fretting one night, and my wife told me to bite the bullet a pay to have it done. I called a bunch of shops but Allen at 249 Drivetrain was the only one I felt confident in. He just performed the work for me (finished up last week). Both axles (limited slip in rear) cost $3200 all in. A lot of money for sure. He was also friendly-ish (once he got to know you) and worked very quickly. I have no doubt that he'll rub a lot of people the wrong way (very opinionated as you'll recall and a bit short on the phone), but at the end of the day, I believe he knows his shit and does good work. Was it worth the price? To me, yeah. I'm about halfway through the break in period and am happy with the performance. TLDR: I chickened out but am glad I did. Ha.
