Hi, I have an 97ish TJ 4.0 ... looks to have the dana 44 rear end. Burned up a bearing and need a new axel on the left side rear. Came across another complete Dana 44 rear end with disk breaks (versus drum that I have now). Ideally, would just swap the whole thing out and upgrade to disk breaks.

What do I need to look at to see if it will match (gear ratios, etc.)? Also, my jeep has a lift on it ... so just assume I can re-use the springs I have and what not and should slide right in??? :)

Thanks!

If the new axle is out of a tj you would also need ebrake cables for disc. The proportioning valve in your jeep will work fine.

It is an easy swap

Definitely make sure the gear ratio is the same between front and rear.
Also there's a guide on here for determining what axles you currently have by the shape of the diff cover, to confirm if you have a Dana 44 now.
Is the damage to more than just the axle shaft, where you can't just replace shaft and bearing?

Some 97s had 3.55 gears. All other non Rubicon D44s had 3.73.
