You would be rolling the dice on the condition of the gears and pretty much everything internal. If you are looking for one to replace a working Dana 35 I'd seriously consider saving up for a locker and super35 kit, better all around choice.

I currently have a new set of gears and overhaul kit for a Dana 44. I have 35s right now and I may go up to 37s in a few years so finding a clean Dana 44 that I can build up would be preferable.
 
If you are going to build the axle you could probably find one that has busted gears for less. Depends on the local market but I can buy a 44 from a local yard today for less than that craigslist ad and I don't exactly live in an area where Jeep parts are cheap. Might check car-part.com.
