Dash Speaker Upgrade

Hello, I just want to share my experience, as we already know the best way to improve the dash speakers is by replacing the 4x6s with a 5.25, to be able to do that you will need a bracket and this is where I think is part of the best improvement, the bracket that MXT sell makes the speaker aim a bit into the rider instead of the floor so once I made the upgrade I was definitely able to hear the difference, if you are runnning an amp (like I do) there is no much market for the 4x6s that are able to handle good power, so that's another reason to upgrade into the 5.25s, I chose the Polk Audio DB series and they can handle 100 watts RMS and are marine rated (my amp is providing 100 watts rms so they match up). I really recommend you to go for this route, here are some pics before and after.

I may add a foam baffles in the future, not so worried about the bass since I have two 12's subs in the rear... If I add them I'll post the update to let you know if they are worth it or not..

I have 4 of those speakers on my Harley, they handle power, marine rated and sounds extremely well.. for the price you cant beat them!

I like it. I wish someone made a small adaptor that would allow the Select Increments speaker pods to tilt back a bit, and point more upward like these do.

Actually, I've seen @Fulton_Hogan do some good work with simple bent aluminum. I wonder if he'd be interested in making something like this?

Not having really seen what you're describing, but I can take a stab at it.

I'd just go a pretty cheap route and make a spacer out of about a 1/8"-1/4" inch thick aluminum flat bar; trim to length and drill it so it fits between whatever speaker adapter and vehicle mounting point.

Then the speaker bottom could sit out at an angle due to the spacer bar's width.

Usually they only get the head unit. If the amp is hidden behind the dash or under a seat, they're not likely to get it.

yep. happened to me a few months ago and they made a mess of my dash. got the double din touchscreen which was the cheapest component of my entire setup. my backseat weighs too much to steal anyway lmao 🤣

you may look into the Soundstream Stealth series, they have the size of a cellphone and there is one that is even marine rated, they handle good power and will fit behind the dash..

that amp is good enough to power 4 speakers and be able to hear them while topless at highway speeds... and no one will know that you have an amp!

I have 2 amps and an epicenter, all under the seat.. no issues so far... where I live the stealings are not an issue TBH, I even have two 6x9s screwed and have never had an issue..

I have a detachable face head unit and nobody could remove my amp or subs if they wanted to. Not even me.

Don, your post inspired me to reposition my 4x6 dash pods, used 1/2 in spacer at bottom mount to bring speakers closer to vertical. Just a quick trial but a noticeable improvement resulted. Thanks

Niiiice set up.... I still have room for the recovery strap, jumper wires and the wood needed to lift my jack below the rear diff..
