Detroit Eaton Truetrac question

How do I remove the black spring holding the access cap into this detroit Eaton truetrac in a Dana 35?

Snap ring pliers...and there are multiple sizes so you need the correct one.

They work like pliers so a precise size is not needed.

That type of tool can be reversed to open the split ring when squeezing the pliers handle wider or closer together.

Ok, I hack my way through that. Now I need to know how to remove the axle seals at the end of the axle tube. I removed both axle shafts so I can go straight through the carrier from the other side and knock it out with some PVC pipe, but that’s not working yet. Any other ideas?
