Distracted Driving Close Call

. My neighbor was walking out to get in her car and she saw a minivan approaching so she waited for it to pass but instead he ran into her car and pushed it into her. The van rode up onto the car and flipped onto it's side. There was no reason for him to be that far over, there was no oncoming traffic and the road is wide, he claims a dog ran out in front of him but after showing the police video from 3 cameras there is no dog, no swerving, and you can see him too far to the right as he is approaching the parked car, He was a kid driving his grandma's minivan. My neighbor (who spent the night in the hospital) was beat up pretty good and has a broken ankle and shin and some road rash. Lucky it wasn't worse, the van came very close to her head when it passed over her.

Here's the van. The posted speed limit here is 20 MPH by the way due to this being a "Bicycle Boulevard". Hard to believe that happened at 20 MPH.

Out of respect for my neighbor I'm having second thoughts about posting the video, Here's a screenshot of the van driving over the top of the Hyundai. The Hyundai got shoved about 5 feet forward. The undercarriage passed inches from my neighbor's head, if she was taller she might not be here now.

I'm thankful your neighbor had the video to back up their claim.

I installed a dash cam a few months ago and my first big trip I witnessed an SUV and truck racing at 80+ mph and one rollover. I called it in to the police and they didn't want the footage even when I followed up with a 2nd phone call.

Shout out Kansas City Police department!
