Distributor cap question?

I bought a distributor cap. But the little black knob is not in the same place as the one that's on the Jeep now. Everything else lines up. Does that matter?

What's that little knob for anyway? Looks like an air vent or something.

That's just a vent.

You are correct, it is just an breather vent and location is not an issue.
