New Dirtworx bumper installed. It pulls the back end out another two inches and leaves me with a really vulnerable spot between the rear tire and bumper... afraid if I slide off the right sized rock it'll nail the bottom corner of the tub. Yes I need corner armor...

Running the Rubicon in a couple of weeks.

Thinking I can bend an 11 inch or so plate to match the end contour of the bumper and weld it on the end...

Thoughts?

You don't need any additional armor to run the Rubicon. I've done the trail with my YJ and TJ that both had Dirtworx bumpers. Last two times through I never contacted rocker or corner armor. Only hit the rear bumper once and that was on my way out of Rubicon springs.

You participating in the Jeepers Jamboree? If so, bring plenty of ice and beer. It's a madhouse at the springs.

Sorry Mac, this doesn't help you. But Dirtworx will make a bumper longer if you ask when ordering. I asked for a 60" length to match the tub width, instead of the standard 57".

I wish he offered a wrap-around corner to protect the tub.

I'm interested to know what you come up with on yours. Good luck.

Stubby bumper and corner armor > full width bumper.

If you have plans to get corner armor soon, keep the bumper as it is IMO.

If you are going to keep on bashing the corners, then it would be wise to put armor on before you tear apart the spot welds.

On mine, I added three more bolts to each side to capture all four corners of the rear torque box where it extends past the rear gate.
