Does anyone know where to source a replacement ECU?

Hi, we purchased a Jeep 2000 TJ earlier in the year. We have recently had problems with it's idling (either too high or too low and stalling) - this is intermittent it seems to fix itself and then come back with the engine light coming on. Initially the auto electrician thought it was the throttle position sensor so this was cleaned and then replaced. However the issue hasn't been resolved. After further investigation they think the ECU has a fault and needs replacing - they are finding it difficult to source replacement. Can anyone offer any advice here? Does anyone know where to source a replacement ECU? Thanks

Before you try replacing the PCM I'd look at the IAC (idle air control).
It can be cleaned and many times that will fix issues.
If you do a search you can find threads on cleaning the IAC and videos on YouTube.

If not then you can send your PCM to @Wranglerfix to be tested.

Things to check before you purchase another ECU:
Check for oxidation on the (3) ECU 32 pin harness connector pins and clips.
Another known problem of where the ECU communications harness (routed behind valve cover) split wire loom and wiring insulations are rubbed thru by the threaded head stud (drivers rear corner) causing communications between the sensors and ECU to intermittently short to ground.

@CamRGordon I can definitely assist you with your ECM if that is the issue. You can mail yours into me and we can repair it or I can build you another. Some countries really stick it to you with customs so please verify that prior. Repair services are 100-150 plus shipping back.

Thanks,

Mark

Mark there is no real customs extras for NZ and Australia just US tax and NZ/ AU GST so basically 10-15% on cost plus the same GST on shipping! Thats a really good deal you are offering and OP should take it up, shipping from US to NZ and Au doesn't take too long and is a pretty simple prosses cos were "mates" lol.

Thanks this is really useful, can anyone recommend any reliable Australian or New Zealand sources? Thanks
Wreckers is your best bet local or australia other than new from a dealer$$$$$$ if they can get one! If its not your Daily Driver then @Wranglerfix is a good option and he has offered a pretty good price. You need to contact a local USA 4x4 specialist these guys have been getting around harder fixes for years sort of like 'Bush Mechanics" through necessity.

Thanks, if anyone can recommend any reputable/large scale stockists/wreckers in U.S or Australia who stock "plug and play" Jeep TJ ECUs suitable for 2000 model that would be much appreciated. I've already contacted: www.fs1inc.com. Thanks!

Hi Mark, as I'm based in New Zealand a repair job might be difficult with logistics? What is the cost and process to obtain a built one from you? Thanks

Can you send me the part number on your ECM please? I had this message typed snd did not press reply so I apologize for the delay.

Hello Mark, I have a broken ECU for my 04 TJ, are you still in the business of repairing them? If so, can you send me a quote? Thank you for your time, have a good day.

Adam-Yes, we are still up and running. There are two computers on an 04 TJ. Which one are you having issues with?
