This is my yellow ‘06 TJ.
A series of unfortunate events coupled with equally good timing allowed me to pick her up this past June. She had 94,000 miles when I took her home. The previous owner added some things. It came with a 2” Rubicon Express economy lift, OME steering stabilizer, rocker guards, a tuffy center console, and 31” tires. The dealership put on a set of new stock flares, a new soft top and the repaired some rust on the fenders (half assed). Besides a couple small spots of rust, she’s solid. Frame and undercarriage is rust free. Which is crazy rare here in Michigan.
Overall I feel I got a great ride and a pretty good deal.
Since bringing her home I’ve done only a few minor things to make her mine own so far:
Installed my Kenwood stereo head unit from my previous Jeep (a Cherokee), new 5.5” kicker speakers in the roll bar and 4x6” in the dash, a small 4 channel amp to help hear those kickers over the wind, and a 10” kicker comp sub in the rear with an amp to power it.
Replaced the bumpers’ milk jugs with the end caps.
Currently working at changing all the fluids and making sure general maintenance is up to date. Money is tight with the holidays so I’m doing a little each pay check.
My “To Do” list is still evolving but new wheels is up first. I think the black American Racing 172 Bajas but I haven’t decided fully yet.
I also want to replace the BB spacers with OME coils and the shocks with Ranchos. The shocks I’ll probably do next before the coils. I’m still undecided on 32” or 33”x10.5” tires but I want KO2s. Lastly (as of now) I’ll probably look into a regear to 4.88. I wrenched in a couple shops and a dealership for awhile but I’m not sure if this is something I can tackle myself at home or not. If not there’s only a few places in Michigan I can find that do it...so, I’ll cross that bridge when I get there.
So far this forum has been a fantastic source of knowledge and great place to ogle other people’s Jeeps lol.
