Just replaced the outside door hanle on my 06 li. Accidently shut the door it will not open. Inside handle or outside handle. How can I get it open? Help!!

Dumb question, but did you try the lock in both positions? My passenger side door lock switch is backwards (locked in unlocked).

Edit: You answered while I was typing.

Try pushing the door in while you actuate either handle. Sometimes taking the pressure off the latch helps...ask me how I know...

You might be able to get the seat out of the way to get a flat blade screwdriver into the latch and force it open.

Otherwise you're down to the tricky art of removing a door skin insitu on a closed door.

Can not unlock k door with key or inside mechanism.

Just for clarification, I don’t mean can you open the door, but does the lock sound / feel like it is actuating? Trying to narrow down if the lock is engaged and not actuating or if the latch release mechanism is disconnected.

The lock mechanism seems jammed up. The key wont fully travel in either direction, and the inside "switch wont travel fully in either direction.

Nope. Jammed up

The outside handle moves as expected. The inside handle moves as expected. The door lock will not disengage with the key or the inside lever. If I could get it open i would disassemble everything and start over. Anyone know how to get it open in this situation?

Can you push the door in and get the pressure off the latch, and then use the rod to actuate the mechanism?

I figured it out. I unhooked the interior handle lock rod, and removed the exterior handle hair pin that holds the outside handle rod. I was able to open the door using the interior handle. made sure both lock mechanisms were in the unlocked position. Reassembled. Works perfectly. Thanks for the suggestions.
