No, I’m the Fu Man Chu Cowboy Ski Bum on the left with the “Day on the Green 3 Monsters of Rock T-shirt on”

Edit: I identified with many groups or couldn’t commit, whichever way you want to look at it. 😆
Haha.. I went with the youngest looking😉
Being from the south I would have said you looked more like a Lynyrd Skynyrd fan👍

Oh I was a big fan of them, note the hair length, also from this angle you can’t see the NRA or NASCAR stickers on the side windows or bumper of my lifted Ram Charger. 😉

Actually you can just make out the NASCAR decal on the rear glass, on what would be the lower right when closed.

Man.. I bet y’all were having a great time.. I’d love to be back in those times again!!

Decided to change out of my pajamas, brave the downpour, finish draining the gas out of the tank and get the Jeep running. i had pulled 16 gallons out but I want to check my gauge on the refill so I’m only putting 9.5 back in, both of my 5 gal cans are about a quart low so I’m just using them.

The first can registers 1/4 on the gauge.

i didn’t mention this earlier but the Jeep started up after turning over only a few extra seconds seconds.

Did you happen to note when the reserve light turned off?

Part of the reason for the new tank was my factory skid is the cheap ass sheet metal one that offers zero protection on the driver side and the corners are exposed on the other end.

I needed to get a skid because mine was hammered but the tank had also taken some damage.

Years ago when I pulled my carpet I also drilled out all of the rear footman loops, on the first one the bit was too small and it grabbed the hole in the loop, pulling itself in and punching a hole in the tank (dumbass) the Jeep was 2 yrs old 😡 I drilled a hole with a hole saw the same size as the tub plugs to gain access, put in an EPDM washered lock rivet, and caulked it over with DOW 795 silicone (good shit) it’s never leaked but every time I pull my plugs I am reminded of why I’m missing one. 😖

Looks like the new tank is 7 pounds heavier. It’s 1” higher ground clearance, 5” more clearance behind the diff, and a full 1/4” aluminum skid plate. 😊

@DrDmoney great photos. That skid does look beefy! Out of curiosity, did this gas tank+skid require a mandatory body lift?
In a 2003 and newer it does require a 1” body lift but for my model year the only negative change is the tailpipe no longer fits between the shock and the tank, this is because the tank runs all the way to the frame rails. The tailpipe on mine has been an issue for a while anyway since changing to the Fox 2.0’s and the larger diameter Banks Monster Exhaust. The solution will come in the form of out-boarding, eventually.
