So I have been trying to figure this problem out for months. It comes and goes but the code always stays around. I have had P0123 TPS circuit high voltage and sputtering and stalling for months and I cannot figure it out.
Jeep is a 2002 4.0 manual transmission.
First, I replaced the TPS twice no luck.
Second, I noticed I had some issues with my cruise control so $250 clockspring later still no luck.
My cruise control will work but intermittently between the TPS circuit going haywire. Some days it will be fine, then some days I can barely drive it without having to stop and restart it a couple times.
I have a feeling I have a bad ground somewhere but don't even know where to start with the ground going to so many circuits.
Any Ideas?

I can't say I have any idea but here I go anyway.

Usually the ground is thought of as screwed into the frame or body. When they go bad it's more often permanent until fixed. I'm not saying it's not your problem but I'd be more concerned about a bad wire in general whether it was a ground or for power. Maybe the random problem is where a wire is ready to fall out of a plug. It's what happened recently to my sons power window in his truck. Random as heck, sometimes when the window was down, sometimes when it was up, sometimes when the door was closed, sometimes when it was opened. Ended up being the power wire in a plug inside the door having some corrosion on it.

Good Luck.

P0123 indicates a high circuit voltage, TPS. The TPS is a low voltage circuit, 5 volts.
I would first get a volt meter and check the TPS voltage to either confirm or rule out the code, take it a step at a time.
Which.may be hard to confirm if it is one if those intermittent electronic problems that comes and goes as you indicated...

Your clockspring can also give you trouble with this
