Driver seat won't latch down

New jeep owner here...and I noticed when helping the kiddos in the backseat that my drivers side seat doesn't lock in, without using the latch you can pull the seat forward. Hitting the latch will bend the back of the seat forwards to make getting in easier, but you can just pull the whole thing forward without doing that if you wanted. You can still adjust the leg room/slide the seat back and forth but it would be nice to get it to fully lock into place.

I looked around underneath the seat and compared it to the passenger side (which works fine) and everything seemed to be the same. Any idea what I should be looking for?

There's a cable operated latch I believe, sounds like yours is an 04 or later.

Hang on here , someone will know the fix, I'm thinking a broken cable or latch stuck open basically.

Don't fret , if it's a cable it's fixable as well. Use the search feature too, I think I saw a similar thread recently.

Sounds like the cable is frozen inside the protective housing sheath due to rust or the return spring is not doing its job. You could spray some PB Blaster inside the sheath and manually move the cable back and forth to free up the cable.
