My seat is basically destroyed from 25 years of use (1999 TJ)

In trying to shop online for a new seat, I am running into a mess of controversial opinions. Can someone recommend a good, FIRM replacement seat, that is very easy to install ? (I admit that I am only slightly "handy")

Thanks!

PRP daily driver is a nice seat, just unbolt the old seat from the frame, add the PRP brackets and put it back in the car. Assuming you like this type of seat that is.

OEM factory of any alternative vehicle has always been better then aftermarket in my experience. I dislike the OEM Jeep seats myself and been lookkn

I highly recommend you sit in any seat you are considering BEFORE buying. I have nearly bought Recaro, Corbeau, Sparco and some other seats for various modified vehicles Ive owned .

THANKFULLY got to sit in them and , and realized they were not even close to what I expected. Many in fact, total garbage by comparison. I have always found factory seats even of a different model vehicle to be better

Popular alternative TJ seats in my short research run have been BMW E92s and Hyundai Tiburon seats

What is destroyed? If the bottom foam has just deteriorated replacement can be had from Summit Racing for under $100. If the material is torn and soiled, buy some good quality seat covers.

My Mastercraft Baja RS seats are far better than OEM. This was very evident when I bought the second TJ and road tripped it from Georgia back to MN, I couldn't wait to be out of those factory seats. Wheeling for day after day they are worth the upgrade.

I'm really happy w/ my Corbeau Trail Cat Seats. If you get the base from them is a super easy install. I got the seat heater as well an i think it was $1100 for both.

thanks, so these use the original base and can still be pushed way forward for rear entry?

Yes they use the original base, I still have functioning sliders and both of my seats tumble forward like they did before. These are a fixed back so I don't get the fold, but I don't need it even with two kids in the back.

I live close to PRP and went to their showroom and sat in all the seats. I ended up walking out with an Enduro trek seat.

Only issue is the install instructions are blurry, foxhound did you find any good videos on how to take out a TJ seat?

Anyone have tips for loosening the bolts that hold the seat base to the jeep? Tight as hell and awkward location to get leverage

Just takes time. I ripped off those plastic bracket covers. Makes it a hella lot easier but I no longer have a back seat and no one will have a toe caught in the rocker bracket.
