I drive both on and off and i fish both with fly and bait. When I'm asked what it's like I give that comparison.
One is like piloting a race car, the other is like plowing a field with a tractor and steering column mounted throttle.I drive both on and off and i fish both with fly and bait. When I'm asked what it's like I give that comparison.
Gimme the worms.Guess I'd love to be a bait fisherman
I think you could master itGuess I'd love to be a bait fisherman

Done both. Like both. However, I wouldn't want to pilot a race car in a plowed field. Or plow a race track with a tractor. One is like piloting a race car, the other is like plowing a field with a tractor and steering column mounted throttle.
In nearly 60 years of driving I've never needed to have an automatic transmission rebuilt.Done both. Like both. However, I wouldn't want to pilot a race car in a plowed field. Or plow a race track with a tractor.
The steering column-mounted throttle frees up the foot to lock the diff or use the independent brakes to stay on my row. It also lets me run the PTO at the right speed without having to put someone in the seat if I'm using the tractor as a stationary power source.
Granted, I'm new to Jeeps, so I reserve the right to change my mind as I start using it more, but I went with a manual because that's what I can rebuild myself. I leave the autos to my transmission guy, and I pay him a lot more per hour than I pay my manual transmission feller.
You sorta missed the point that you are in control and have to drive one and the other you're just along for the ride and just have to remember to turn at the end of the row.Done both. Like both. However, I wouldn't want to pilot a race car in a plowed field. Or plow a race track with a tractor.

I wouldn't pick either based on what I could fix. I've sent enough of both out to get rebuilt I know that isn't a good criteria. To me, that is the same as avoiding a Rock Jock Dana 60 because you know how to set up gears in a Dana 44.In nearly 60 years of driving I've never needed to have an automatic transmission rebuilt.
