Just got back from a trip to Drummond Island in Michigan’s upper peninsula. 4 TJs total, and for the most part they did great. Of the names trails, we hit Mu’s Nemesis, Connor’s Hole, Marblehead, Tight Twisties and a few others.

We traveled Thursday, and spent all day wheeling Friday and Saturday and returned Sunday. It was a fantastic trip, and I intend to go back again next year.

I’m looking at going up there with a Jeep Jamboree USA deal next year. Are the trails open year round? I would be up for going with a group also.

Just got back last weekend from the Gateway to the Cumberlands JJ-USA event put my Jeep through the paces, was harder on me I think than the Jeep. Did a 5-6 trail that was pretty technical for my “ Bombing down the fire roads” skill. Here some picture. You know the hills never look as steep in the pictures and video. 😝

Damn, that water was deep. After seeing how deep holes are up there I sure wouldn’t want to be first, really wouldn’t want to do it at all.
It was deep. I went first, but I was fairly confident we’d make it thru given that it’s a fairly famous part of the trail run quite often and the people at the island’s welcome center told us we’d ‘probably’ be ok.

I believe they are open year around, although not 100% sure. If you’re tagging along on a planned group trip I’m sure you’ll be fine.

I'm down in the Saginaw area, but have a cottage on black lake. Wouldn't mind trying Drummond with my new build. How is it in winter? (I hate mud)

I have no idea how it would be in the winter. There are some mud-free trails, but i would guess based on this trip that all of the harder ones are going to have some mud on them at any time of year.

Those two are really nice photos. You should submit for the next ride of the month contest!
Thanks for the positive feedback on the photos! Unfortunately I took the photos of a buddy’s Jeep on the trip so it’s not my rig. He’s on here though I should have him enter.

More than a few super-muddy spots out on the roads I went on today that I specifically avoided because I didn't want to get stuck. lol

Not good when your TJ is your DD too.
