Was this an actual thing? Saw this TJ on ebay claiming that his jeep was spec'ed with an LPG system at the factory. Was LPG ever optional on purchase or is this an aftermarket addon.

Jeep Wrangler 4.0L Extreme Sport Manual Silver with Black Hardtop 60100 Miles . Fitted with LPG Gas System which was an option from the factory (55p per Ltr.) with Under-slung Tank.

There have been lots of Government sponsored alternative fuel programs. Without a doubt LPG has been tried somewhere in the world on a Wrangler. With factory support.

I was in Delhi, India last year and discovered they have converted virtually every public transport and commercial vehicle to compressed natural gas, CNG. A huge difference to air quality. Question??? If third world India can do it... What is our problem.

This is a seller in the uk, i doubt this was done at the factory, lpg gained some interest 10 years ago here as our gas prices are pretty high and government offered grants to drivers who converted to LPG. we actually have a lot of companies who specialise in gas conversions still. But the EC ruled out incentives eventually in 2005.

^^^^ we had the same in Canada in the '70s... same reason. $$$$$

And converting to LPG or even running dual fuel is NOT high tech.
Lots of old carbureted pickups run dual fuel setups here. Pretty crude.

Price of gas today sure kills that incentive.
