DuncLJ's Big Bolt-On Bonanza

I'm really enjoying your build thread, especially your attention to detail!

Did you use the nut and bolt method for your rocker guard rivnuts, a fancy setting tool, or something else?
Thank you, I used this fancy setting tool.

RZX 16" RIVET NUT TOOL Hand Blind Riveter, RIVNUT Riveting Tools with Nut Setting System M3 M4 M5, m6, m8, m10 M12, 10-24, 1/4-20, 5/16-18, 3/8-16, 1/2-13 totally 12 mandrels: Amazon.com: Industrial & Scientific

I used it because it was recommended by others on this forum. Very easy to use, worked great.

Also, welcome to the forum!

Finished up the Savvy Sliders install. Installation is a bit more involved than typical sliders, but is not bad if you take your time.

Very pleased with the results.

Cut a notch in the rear fender to make it mount flush to the slider.

Finished up the day by installing the Currie Currectlync. Install is pretty straightforward. Centered the steering wheel and a quick toe-in and it was good to go.

Is there a reason you installed your coil springs flipped opposite each other in the front?

Had to go outside with a flashlight to check, lol.
They are both installed correctly. The springs are tapered at the top. You can't really install them upside down.
Might be the angle of the camera.

They are Currie 4 inchers.

It's gotta be playing tricks. It looks like the stacked coils are on bottom on driver side and not on passenger.

I needed some adjustable control arms for my 96 ZJ. My solution was to get new arms for the LJ and move my old arms to the ZJ.
I got some Tier 4 Core4x4 lower arms to replace my Tier 3 arms. I already have tier 4 on my uppers, so now I have a complete set on the LJ.

New arms have Johnny Joints on both ends.

The old arms have a JJ at one end and a flex poly joint at the other. They are nice but the tier 4 will give far more flex and articulation.

I installed the fronts yesterday and will do the rear tomorrow. Meanwhile, I cleaned up the old arms, painted them, and have them ready for the ZJ.

My pile of parts is about topped off for now. Revolution 5.13 gears and Yukon Grizzly lockers front and rear.
I hope to have everything installed in the next few weeks. Really psyched!!!

They're like two pieces of fine jewelry! It's a shame they'll never be seen.

Good deal! Solid choices.
Thanks dude! I'm really excited about this mod since it will totally change the characteristics of my Jeep.
I have done a lot of mods this last year, but virtually no hard off-roading. Covid and the wildfires have shutdown all my wheeling spots until now.
I've spent the year upgrading, but I'm really itching to get up into the trails and testing all these mods out.
The gears and lockers are the last piece of the puzzle.
Can't wait for the snow to melt! 🍻

@DuncLJ I finaly had a chance to read you whole build thread! Sounds like you really lucked out back in 2012 when you chose an LJ over the much more common TJ. I really like the whole direction your build is going so far! 🍻
Thanks man, I appreciate it.
I've got some new parts arriving next week, so I'll be back at it.

I enjoyed reading through your build as well. 🍻
