Electrical gremlins - any ideas?

Here's my latest electrical gremlin issue. Changed out all interior an exterior lamps with LED including the relay last fall. Jeep was in garage all winter so did not take it out at all. Took it out today for a maintenance drive and noticed the odometer blinks when turn signals activated but doesn't happen when turn signal with the headlights on. No hyperflash or anything like that, just a blinking odometer.

I didn't notice it when I did the initial install so I figure probably a bad ground somewhere - anyone know a good place to start to look?

In all honesty, if it's too much of a PITA to find it, I can live with a blinking odometer when I turn signal but if it's an easy fix then I'll mess around with it.

I looked at your wiring diagrams (available for free in the TJ resources section of this forum) and the only commonality I see is that the signal from the turn signal stalk goes through the same connector (C1) as the odometer. Maybe pop out the instrument cluster and have a look at the connectors? If I had to guess I would say that it is internal to the IC itself.

Edit: I think I've seen some threads where guys have taken the back off the IC and found issues (corrosion, etc) but I haven't ever done that myself.

Before you start looking for a “bad” ground, make a jumper wire ( 12-14 gauge ) and connect it to the battery negative post, with the other end you’ll supply ( ground ) at known (-) negative connections ( signal light ,headlights ,marker instrument cluster
- make sure ( test ) you know which ones are positive circuits and DO NOT touch them with the jumper , since it is connected to the negative post !!!!
- this is a perfect example where the power probe tool would shine
- hope this helps to pin point the location of the cause

Change the front turn signal bulbs, the ones under the orange covers back to regular bulbs and your problem will go away.

edit: the 3157 bulbs with two filaments, not the side markers
