My last sled dog has passed away. 17 years, as tenacious at the end as she was on the trails. For the first time in 30 years we are without multiple canines and the first time in my life without a dog at all. Not quite sure how I feel about it. Instinct is to find a new dog. There’s and empty space and I should fill it. Another part of me says learn to live without for a while.
Is dog-less a new beginning? I don’t know. We’ll see.
