Erik’s 2005 white wrangler build

The jeeps about to have a lot of work done this weekend. I got a big pile of parts, and the wife is out of town!
Started with some flexing. I’m thinking I may get some more articulation with the new control arms so I wanted to see where it was at as of now. From the ground to
The bottom of the tire measured 21 inches in the front and rear.

Had to run to the part store to get drums and shoes for the rear. The store I normally use unfortunately did not have drums in stock. So I tried autozone. Came back with the drums which are different. The one drum has a a protrusion coming from the middle and this will not work with my rims. Then the shoes have the pins where the adjuster arm hookes into. That’s of course bent! Back to the parts store!

Just finished up brakes front and rear. Excited to have me. Blanes magic brakes on the front of this Jeep. This should help a ton. Also took some advice from Chris and got those longer yj brake lines put in!

Just finished installing the stereo. I went with 4 Polk db522 speakers and a Sony deck that has a class d amp built in so it runs 40 watts rms. Definitely a lot louder than stock. I think a sub may be in the future though. Also finally had some time to install the decals I ordered a while back.

Man I have not posted on my build thread in a while. K well I’m gonna start with what I am working on now.
I decided to finally go in for the tummy tuck. Started fabrication on a skid out of 1/4 inch steel and also made a lower profile transmission mount. I got a lot of work still to get this thing dialed in where I want it. Here’s some pics of the work and I’ll throw some in from wheeling I did on Saturday.

I also forgot to mention I have lockers now! Ended up doing a Dana super 35
In the rear with a Eaton e locker. There was a really good sale on Yukon products leading up to Christmas so I got a grizzly locker for the front. Also re geared up to 5.13 and stuck some revolution shafts in the front axle when I was in there. New black magic brakes, new wheel bearings and new spicer ball joints to top it all off as well. I’ve been too busy working on this damn thing to even post about it

That trash can 🗑 is going to need a break soon. Any chance you’ll remove the aftermarket rear hitch and go for a bumper with an integrated hitch? This is turning out awesome! Of course, I’m interested in what you do with the tranny mount too.

Ya the rear bumper I really like the flush genright one with the receiver. I think I’m just gonna buy that. But that’s a project further down the road. My tie rods are shot and I need to get the currrie steering set up after this. That’s the next most important thing. Stay tuned for the trans mount. I’m still working on it. Unfortunately the t case was still hitting the skid plate so I’m working on raising it another 1/4 inch right now. I may not be able to go full flush at this point though if I want to retain the factory mount. So we will see

Sounds like tub work to get the rear of the TCase off the skid. I keep trying to envision how tight the transmission tunnel is getting. Wish I had your fab skills😝. I bought the Savvy, but it’s just sitting there till I get the other parts I need.

Here’s what we are working with so far. I added a 1/4 inch to the trans mount and a 1/4 inch to the skid plate, which is doing double duty keeping the bolts safe. Looks like I have enough room above with nothing contacting. Not I got to burn this in. Do some more work to the trans mount and then go after the exhaust situation

Managed to get the exhaust to clear by just pushing it up a little bit with the exhaust hanger . I accidentally put too much heat into the skid when welding it causing it to warp slightly but I think it will be fine. Everything still lines up and the trans mount is done. Just have to paint it and start working on the sye
