EV thread

The current state of the EV market is a case study proving how government subsidies influencing a market has horrible repercussions on that market. It happens over and over again, and the geniuses in DC just don't understand.

That's the real problem, and it goes far beyond the EV crap.
Yes. Sadly, I think the EV subsidies, combined with DC's over-reaction to COVID, has dug a deep hole for the auto industry. Some mfrs will not survive (Nissan and VW, for instance). It really is a perfect case study in how government can completely screw up an established industry! When markets are too regulated, bad things happen.

I would bet their survival is much higher than Dodge. Ram trucks and Jeep will continue on , but Dodge or Chrysler are circling the drain as we speak

It's pretty awesome to see 2024 jeeps listed at $15 - 20K below MSRP right now. All vehicles are absurdly priced now days, the whole industry needs a wake up call.

Gonna have to be more than that. My new car drove my nuts just like my phone does - it's like a damn needy puppy, always trying to get your attention while you're busy.

A friend of mine traded in his 3 year old Tesla because the battery would quickly lose a charge. He'd leave his house at 100%, and by 92 miles he said his battery level was hovering around 20%

I thought the batteries had like an 8 year warranty?

We need to get the government out to free up the corporations to make stripped down cheaper cars with a few options. Then revolt against this crap.

When I retire, I'll probably ditch computer sysyems in general. Maybe learn to program on secure Linux hardware/software like stuff from PureOS and watch pirated movies for entertainment.

Blip off the radar some and make them work for it with other people's ring cameras in a small town somewhere.

Now I truly know why people left the comforts of Europe to boat ride to the US and camp across the country. To get away from governments and powerful people.

As much as Musk talks about limiting .gov, he's developing all the tools they need to destroy the last bits of privacy. Self driving cars that collect way more data about you than a car needs, and a connected anywhere in the world satelite system, and X. He's no different than Google, Amazon, or Facebook. He just wants to get to Mars.

I popped over to the Dodge website to take a look. Its just more of the same crap: overpriced, over technologied (proudly boasts that it supports TWO smartphones! ) screens everywhere, etc, etc. With that said, I'd probably buy it over a Tesla - there's actually an instrument screen (!!) in front of the driver, and the center screen, although hideous, at least looks like it belongs where it is. I didn't delve deep enough to see if it has the usual EV bullshit like electric door handles and electrically opening charging doors. It might be more reliable than a Tesla - which isn't a hard bar to reach.

So get rid of them both - that's but one reason I refuse to participate in this bullshit.

I got rid of the car! I need the phone, my compromise is to only buy refurbished phones for 100$ on Amazon since I'm gonna hate it no matter how much I spend.

Still rocking a pixel 3a over here

Nobody wants domestic cars anymore. They don't compare to Japanese models and if you are cheap then korea is for you. Where does that leave overpriced low quality (domestic) cars?
