Fast FID

I am looking to put together a kit that allows me to splice my winch rope on the trail (or in the shop for that matter). I found the fast fid product by Factor 55... I listened to the advice on this forum and sourced a rope, safety thimble, and fairlead from TRE but it doesn't appear that TRE makes a splicing kit and the fast fid looks slick if it works well... does anyone have experience with it and can confirm it works as advertised?

Fast Fid? I bought one when I switched to synthetic line last year and is a breeze to use. Some folks tape the line to a pen which will do the job but I'm glad I spent the money. Installed my thimble in under 15 minutes having never done it before and taking my time. Plus if there is a trail breakage I'd rather have the proper tool for the job than have to look around for a small stick.

I bought one. It was so easy that after using it I thought I probably could have done without it. Its now a permanent part of the tool kit I take with me.
