Sunday wheeling at Brendan Byrne forest in NJ. Had a fairly large group of 8 rigs. All Rubicon’s of JL and JK variety, some built, some stock, and one Land Rover Discovery. I was the only TJ.
Not even 15 minutes into the trails, I partially drove over an ice patch I didn’t see and my driver side rear wheel bottomed out. It took quite a bit of winching to get out. Stupid me had the parking brake on for a couple tries before I smelled my drum brakes burning up. First time using my winch for a self recovery. Other than that it was an light day of easy trail riding, off camber hills and some climbs, although it was pretty damn cold out. We did have to recover an XJ that was there solo. Couple of kids that got high centered on a mountain of dirt. Started to snow halfway through which made for some cool pics. One of the guys had a drone and took some nice aerial photos.
