Finally got the TJ undercoated. Rust inhibiting semi gloss black, with woolwax on top. Pictures here are just the paint, I'll need to upload the woolwax coating.

I’m actually having the same treatment done to mine late next week at a shop here in NE Ohio.
They drop the suspension components to enable them to get the entire frame.
Having the underside of the body pan done also.
Gotta keep it protected.

What paint did they use? When I had my OBS 7.3 I used Eastwood inhibitor paint - 2 nice coats. That was after scraping, sanding, converting, and prepping the very few spots that did have rust. It didnt last. A year later of being in the mag chloride / salt of MT the whole frame was rusting through.

Trying to decide if its worth the time to prep, clean, convert, paint, and then use metal protect or fluid film on the TJ or not - considering the old ford still rusted anyway.

Sure looks nice. Curious to see how the woolwax comes out, if it is messy and nasty like fluid film or if its a bit dry and cleaner.

If you don't mind me asking, what kind of $$ are involved with this procedure?

$1200 - $1500 as I’m having the pan done also. Full suspension disassembly, total cleaning, and finished with a satin finished rust preventive paint. 3-4 day time frame.
Well worth the investment as I will be driving it this winter.

Are you moving out of NY? I don't think it's legal to have a frame that clean there. (y) (y)

If I paid that much to make it look that good, I'd only drive it to church on Sundays, and only if the sun was shining.;)

Well worth that price for that thorough of a job! That’s a good shop you found!

I’ve had my truck undercoated for 6 years since new, using NH Oil & Undercoating. It’s just a proprietary oil. This year before reapplying I pressure washed all the oily grime & gunk off and for the most part everything looks brand spanking new! Labels, torque marks, shiny bolt heads and all. It’s critical for preservation in the rust belt.
