The new infrastructure bill that passed has a provision in it that requires new autos to have alcohol detection systems in them to prevent drunk driving. Now, all the fucks that stood by with their fucking apathetic hands in their pockets and watched everyone's rights get diminished and diluted get to feel the pain. I hope they are un-hackable, add 10 grand to the cost of a new car and prevent driving after 2 drinks. The only thing that would be better is if they send out a signal to the local PD that says the car is trying to be used by a goddam drunk.

Possibly, but it has been my position that the erosion of our freedoms would not really get folks pissed off until they went after alcohol.

Yeah the mandate is BS but currently technologically unfeasible so it will probably be indefinably delayed and never show up on most people's radar.

I hope you're right, but I doubt it. People won't value freedom until things get bad and they realize they can't count on the government to provide for them. San Francisco crime has gotten bad enough that people who previously never considered owning a gun are buying them as they realize their government won't protect them. There are signs of attitude shifts but there's a long way to go.

In 10 years we'll be in a depression and people will either realize government can't provide everything, or they'll go full socialist. I'm an optimist and believe things will get better but only after they get worse.

Maybe they should install a system that tracks your eye movement. Every time you take your eyes off the road you are issued an automatic citation and they'll be able to automatically deduct that from you bank account since you know we'll have the communist comptroller that wants to do away with banks and have the fed run everything.

I hope they go full fucking bore and get them all. Want sell booze at a stadium? No problem, you are now liable for any drunk driving related accidents. Wanna manufacture and sell alcohol for public consumption? No problem, as long as the DUI victim's stakeholders can sue you for damages. Let's just take it all right down the line and let the drinkers suffer from the same bullshit that has been used on gun owners, gun manufacturers, etc.

If everyone that drinks all banded together and told the .gov to fuck off with the mask, vaccination, and gun law bullshit, that's enough sway to get shit done but no, lets stand by with our hands in our pockets and let the erosion happen. Well guess what, now it's your turn and I hope you like it just as much as we don't.

Exactly but the bigger issue is when the definition of what is a vice is determined by those who have "your best interests" at heart.

From what I have read on this, it will not just target alcohol. It will more than that by using the term - impaired. Using different systems/tools to monitor he driver, you won’t be blowing in a tube to start and go on your merry way. Once impairment is suspected the car will then take steps to “kEeP tHe pUblIc saFE”.

Cars like we all grew up with are on their death bed, it is obvious to anyone looking. What I am curious about is, what will happen to all the pre-mandate (for lack of a better term) cars? Will they go up in value astronomically or, will the be regulated to car shows and drag strips? Also, what or how will these systems work off road. Will side by sides and motorcycles be included???
