I had a 1st gen insight for a while. When properly tuned up and a good battery would get 60+mpg at 70 on the interstate.

A little extra thought/driving slower and you could get 100+ pretty easy.

Ingenuity is great and all, but I appreciate build quality slightly better than "guy with roll of duct tape".

I'd be much more likely to do something like this anyway.

Oh yeah, I agree. But, it is cool to see a functional "duct tape concept", showing what can be done with low cost materials. Even better if the person comes back later with a second version that has been built done with quality parts and far better construction.

Apparently the ol' panty-dropper was recently spotted in Wisconsin.

A friend of mine just sent this screenshot from some FB group.

Come to think of it, panty-dropper might not be accurate. It seems like I recall the printed details making me think it's a female that drives it. Then again, I suppose it could still apply!
