First Jeep, long way to go

What did you use for touch up? Ive been thinking about those pens with the paint and then clear coat.
Automotivetouchup.com. I use the small touch up bottle with a brush. My dings are too large for the pens. It came highly recommended by some folks here, color matches perfectly. My skill not so much, ha

They sell pens too. I wonder how pens compare to brushes? The other one i found had a pen for clear coat too. So you do one layer with paint pen. And one coat with the clearcoat pen. I dont have to many large dings. Just scratches. My doors look like they were drug behind. Lol.

They do, pens are great for small scratches and dings. Mine are chunks missing from rocks. I should be better about sanding it down smoother but I don’t want to create a large space to work with. Just want to stop rust.

The world of work has kept me away, but I have managed to get some things done in the last few weeks! I tackled my drivers seat back release cable 2 weeks ago with success (no pictures). Zip ties to the rescue there, not sure how long they will hold!

yesterday and today I took on my first mechanical challenge, the cooling system. I noticed about a week and a half ago that I had some coolant leaking. After some research and the great folks on this forum I determined it was indeed the waterpump going bad.

Per recommendations I ordered a new thermostat and a MOPAR waterpump. I bought the TJ to learn so it was time to step into the engine bay! I also determined this after I was quoted over $500 to have someone slap a $30 waterpump on there. Thankfully this isn’t a horribly difficult repair, time consuming for a newbie, but YouTube works wonders.

No issues as of now, running like a workhorse!

I replaced my inner shifter boot today, what a pain in the a$$ for a simple task. The two bolts at the 4wd lever just spun. I made the executive decision to engineer the new boot vs. cutting bolts etc. it worked pretty well. I just made a small cut on the left side to slide it under the lever. Amazing how destroyed my old one was, it was letting in a ton of heat and fumes.

Also finished up the JKS disconnects since my RC’s were demolished. I was on the fence about even upgrading them, but felt compelled. I don’t wheel enough to feel good about spending the money on an Antirock. I’ll probably regret it as any disconnect just seems to be a pain.

I wish I could take credit for the mods below, but time is money. Still wanted to put it on the “build” even though a lot of this was “bought” 😂

just about 4 inches of lift with:
JKS dual rate springs
Bilstein 5100 shocks
JKS lower CA
Rock krawler uppers
Teraflex rear tracbar
Teraflex steering stabilizer
SYE and DC driveshaft

I call this my #frankenlift. I had so many other items upgraded piece by piece that I was trying to do this economically! I couldn’t be more please with her road performance. I took it on a very hilly and bumpy gravel road and I couldn’t believe the difference from the previous crap RC that was on it!

Just a few easy updates, after a year I’m trying to get it back to a semi-stock form. I removed the air intake and installed a stock airbox. It took some engineering with some gorilla tape, but it works!

Next up I decided to remove the window trim and mirrors for a nice “refresh”

Lastly, I removed the light bar and rain guards from the door, much cleaner, but now I have a little rust to repair. Could be far worse!

I’ve knocked out quite a bit in the last few weeks , first I eliminated junk in the trunk and took the Gerry cans and jack off (haha)

Next big project - scorEd these half doors with uppers for $350. I replaced all the hardware and refinished the interior and exterior. Fun learning experience, they look good from a few feet away!

This past weekend I tackled new flares and a new CB antenna, I also replaced The rocker guards to discover some rust under them. That explains why they were bulging out, guess I’ll learn rust removal sooner than I hoped! i like the flares, kind of a pain to do and took just about 3.5 hours. I swapped out all the cheap hardware for stainless steel, it also looks far nicer.
