This followed me home over the weekend.

It's a barely used 1987 Raleigh Technium 440. When I was doing Ultra-marathon racing in the 80s and early 90s, we called these 'Screwed and Glued' bikes because the 3 main 6013-6T aluminum tubes were bonded to internal steel lugs. The forks and stays were brazed cro-mo. It was hi tech stuff back then. I was riding Miyatas and Bianchis in those days so they weren't on my radar. The last couple years, I've been thinking of adding one to the herd. Most of what I found were not my size, beat to hell, or over priced. Most times, all three. This one is at my limit, size wise, but it's unmolested AND was only seventy bucks. Though I'm not a fan of the 'turkey legs' on the brake levers or the 'sack snagger' shifters on the stem, tires are all I'll change on it. It's too nice customize.

And a death wish with the way some people around here drive.... Plus some really good heated gear to stay warm.

You can't do much about the idiot cagers any time of the year. Had a jackass pass me on the right shoulder in a no passing zone this morning. That said, heated grips, hippo hands, lined jeans, Sorel boots, balaclava and layers on the core work well. Unless you're hard core and you(me) stupidly go out for a ride when it's -10F. Then it's this get up. Sixties Swedish military MC gear.

Great stuff, but Christ, is it heavy. Trip and fall while getting on your ride and you'll need help getting back up.
