I’ve had a couple people ask me about the toolbox in my LJ.

After having all my recovery gear stolen earlier this summer, I went looking for a storage solution that was secure.

This Rigid 32” x 19” tool chest is ideal.

It is sized as though it was always intended to fit in an LJ cargo area.

The box is waterproof, very secure using 2 padlocks, and if you’re feeling froggy, could easily be bolted to the floor. It doesn’t interfere with the rear seat at all if that’s important.

Compared to the Tuffy, this is bigger and cheaper (~$200).

The only downside is that the lid can’t be opened up 90° unless the rear seat backrest is flopped forward. I don’t consider this to be too much trouble as mine is usually empty or out all together, but people should be aware.

So, keep this in mind if you’re hunting for something to keep your crap safe.

Nice find. The Tuffy box does have the advantage of having a drawer versus opening from the top which allows for putting a cooler or whatever else on top, but that rigid box is a nice alternative.

just my 2 cents, you could add gas struts to the lid and it would only open as far as you wanted and stay open on its own......
