Ford 8.8 6 lug conversion and c-clip eliminators

I am in the process of installing a Wagoneer Dana 44 front and Ford 8.8 rear into a 2005 TJ with 35's and a stock 4.0. The front Wagoneer axle WMS is ~60.5 in and is 6 lug. The axle comes with 5.13 gears and a detroit locker. We are installing it as.

The rear Explorer 8.8 has a WMS of~59.5. An ARB. matching 5.13 gears and 4 link will be installed to match the front. I need to convert the rear to a 6 lug pattern to match the front. I would like to buy a Yukon Super 88 kit which would increase the rear WMS about an 1.5" and provide heavy duty axle shafts but unfortunately this is not offered in a 6 lug version. With that said, I'm trying to piece together the same kit by purchasing the c-clip eliminators and shafts separately. Dutchman can provide the 6 lug shafts, but I am having a difficult time sourcing the correct c lip eliminators, if they even exists. Mark Williams and Moser both instructed me not to run their c-clip eliminators in an off-road environment. They cannot handle the side loads. I also came across a post by MBlain confirming this and stating the Superior 8.8 kit had a special design to accommodate the side loads.

Does anyone sell the Superior/Yukon style c-clip eliminators by themselves?

Do I even need c-clip eliminators with disk brakes? I was buying them more as an option to increase the rear WMS to match the front vs their intended purpose of elinating the c-clips. We also plan to change over to longer outboard shocks during the install. There isn't much room in this area now. Our current beadlock wheels are 2 in offset and the c-clip elinators cost about the same as quality wheel spacers.

However, the more I think about it, maybe I’m over complicating this and they aren't necessary.

Have you called yukon to see if they will sell just the end that presses into the axle (which is what I believe you are calling a C-Clip eliminator)? I would be interested to know as well as I accidentally put some decent dings into mine when I was replacing the axle seals for the first time. Doesn't leak... yet... Unfortunately, I doubt they do. The other tough part would be the spacer and bracket that bolts the shaft to the axle. However, I am currently having a friend make me some spares on his plasma table so if you continue down this path feel free to reach out for those if you can't find them online.

But, If I were you I'd just run adapters to make life easy.

I also doubt you would notice the 1" difference front to rear, but man is it a pain getting a rear c clip rig out of the woods.

I'll call Yukon tomorrow to see if they offer the c-clip eliminators / bearing housings separate from the complete kit. At least this way I explored all options.

I think another benefit of the kit is larger/ better wheel bearings with the inner bearing race being part of the bearing package vs the inner race being the axle shaft. Although, I’m not sure how important this is as there are many 100k mile+ trucks out there with their factory axles shafts being the inner race

Have you considered drilling and tapping one of the yukon axles out for 6 lug? Not sure if there is enough room to with both 5x4.5 and 5x5.5 being drilled out already. Maybe you could weld in the holes if that was case to drill new ones?

I have considered re-drilling the Yukon shafts to a 6 x 5.5 pattern. I drew it up in CAD only to discover no matter how you rotate the two patterns, one of the new 6 x 5.5 holes will ALWAYS overlap one of the 5 x 4.5 holes or be in very close proximity to the 5 x 5.5 holes. There is no way to find available space in the axle flange without welding and re=drilling. Honestly, this is more than I am willing to do for this build.

I do plan to re-drill the OEM rear disc rotors from 5 x 4.5 to a 6 x 5.5 pattern, even if one hole slightly overlaps.
