Ford F150 3.5 Eco Boost vs 5.0

How many of you guys with the 3.5 Ecoboost have had cam phaser issues? Today it made a slight rattle noise on startup which went away after 5 seconds at most.
Sounds like a chain clattering??
Like gear teeth are missing the chain lightly

Im surprised it STILL is a problem. Mines a 2013 I bought new and had the TDP done around 59,000 under warranty. It did that from day 1, and never had any real issues but I took the free replacements and never did it again

boggles the mind that a decade later they have not changed suppliers to the newer style

I’ve never had any issues with the cam phasers. I bought mine used with about 1 year of factory warranty left. I received a letter from Ford addressing the issue. The program is now expired but check this out. Ford customer satisfaction 21B10

Forgot to add a photo of the truck.

I've driven both in work trucks, my current is a 3.5 EB. It is with a different tune that makes 400hp/500tq. I wasn't very impressed with the 5.0 honestly but that could be different with the new transmission. This 3.5 with the 10 speed is a nice rig. It goes and drives great, but gets terrible mileage while towing!

I have to say, I used to be a diehard LS fan until I owned a Coyote. Now I must admit that the Coyote really does it for me.

The Coyote definitely sounds better. It has that distinctive Ford V8 engine note that harks back to the old 5.0 HO.

Before the pandemic I spent a lot of time on a project in Las Vegas. There a week, home a week.

I have President's Circle so I just walk onto the rental lot and pick a car from what's available.

I had in order, Camaro SS, Mustang GT, Challenger 392 Scat Pack.

Camaro was fastest but I liked it the least. To be honest they were all VERY fast but the Camaro felt more responsive to the right foot.

Mustang was great and I seriously considered buying one.

Challenger was too big, but the engine sounded absolutely GLORIOUS. I almost would've bought one just to sit in the driveway and rev it so that everyone in the neighborhood could appreciate just how good it sounded.

With the advent of EVs, future generations may only hear the throaty roar of a V8 from a recording :(

They're all fun. I've owned a Camaro ZL1, Corvette Z06, Challenger Hellcat, and Boss 302 Mustang.

My favorite of the bunch are the Corvette and the Mustang. The only reason the Corvette doesn't win out (man was that an amazing car) is the fact that it's a 2-seater and really wasn't a good car to drive around town. That thing felt like it wanted to be on a race track.

EVs are fast and very fun to drive, I'll admit. Still, they weigh too much and aren't there yet for me. Now if at some point they offered a EV Miata with outstanding range, light weight, and the ability to fully charge in 5 minutes. Well at that point I'd probably be a buyer

I don't see that happening anytime within the next 10-15 years though.
