For transparency, I am currently preparing my LJ for sale, and was taking some underbody pictures to be able to show buyers. When reviewing the pictures, it appears there may have been a frame repair just above the LCA mounting point on the driver side of the vehicle. I purchased in 2016 and have only driven the vehicle about 8,000 miles in that time. When I purchased the vehicle, I pulled a CarFax and while an accident was reported in 2008, no structural damage was reported. There were no other accident reports after 2008.

What do you guys think? Is this a frame repair (I am certain it must be)? And, does this look like a good repair if it was (assuming it was from 15 years ago). I have driven this vehicle for 7 years with no problems in the drivetrain. No shimmys, no shakes, no problems with alignment, etc. so I was actually a little surprised about this. Open to any feedback or suggestions.

Thanks,

Passenger side, no apparent "patch":

Driver side, looks like a "patch":

That’s not a repair. All the Jeep Unlimited’s Have that reinforcement installed from the factory.

Well, that makes me feel WAY better. An reason it is only on the driver side?

No documentation that I know of to support a reason. The engineers must have thought it was needed otherwise it wouldn’t be there.

Thank you very much for the quick responses. I never had anything reported when I bought the vehicle and took it to an off-road mechanic for a pre-purchase inspection, or when we installed the LCA's. I feel much better now.
