I remembered when I first saw the new TJ, I wondered why the front turn signals were so large and mounted in the fenders. While the look has grown on me, I still often wonder why Jeep did that. Was it because of some sort of legal reasons, like the turn signals have to be so far apart? Or was it simply a design change?
When the JK Jeep went back to round turn signals mounted in the grille, the grille itself was much wider and the signals were at the far ends. They look so odd like that, it's almost as if Jeep *had* to space them out so far apart?
I have seen some TJ owners with flat fenders use the round JK turn signals mounted under the headlights, and they look so much more natural and Jeep-like. It makes me wonder why Jeep didn't do that in the entire 10-year run of the TJ:
And then the JL came out and they went back on the fenders, much like our TJ's. So again, it makes me wonder if vehicles cannot have the turn signals as close as they were on the CJ's and YJ's anymore.
