Looking for some help/ideas on extended front upper bump stops that won’t hit the coil spring. I recently installed a 3” lift on my 2001 TJ and the kit came with a 2” extension for the bump stop cup. Well, of course I’m now experiencing the annoying coil spring and bump stop plucking sound. I’m looking for suggestions on better extensions that don’t hit the spring. Or better said, I’m really hoping there are better options. I know a lower bump stop extension would be the way to go, but I’d really not like to have to remove and reinstall those could spring again haha. Let’s just say it was a little bit of a pain while doing it on the floor of my garage.

Pictures would help.
You will need to put an extension on the bottom.

Works for me, brother...ran them for years, never an issue...

Because it didn't matter much if they were there or not. You could have stuffed your coils with dirty underwear and the results would have been the same. You get to be the guy with trash in your springs.

Try tennis balls, they work well, I ran them for years. You can fine-tune them...

I know I shouldn't, but I can't stop myself. How does this even work? You just toss them in willy nilly in the coil and let them bounce around?

You’ll want some extensions on the bottom on the axle. I don’t even know any kits that are designed to add the length on top except the daystar bump stops that replace the jounce with.
The best I think are Currie bump stops that remove the metal cup from the top and replace it with a rounded poly one as well as add the extension on the bottom. This makes the top section not too long but also has no lip for the coil to get stuck on. For the cheapest you can drill out some hockey pucks and bolt them on the axle side pad. That would require you to drill a hole there since I’m assuming you don’t have one but you can fit lower extension from Currie or pucks in after the coil is installed.

I prefer tennis balls over dirty underwear...besides I stopped wearing underwear in 1967. Us Combat soldiers don't do it, it will chaffe you so bad you cannot walk and you get sent to the rear. Vietnam: 100+F, 100 humidity.

I have seen that before, but never tried it. Folks said it worked...

Can you surmise how a measured stack of hockey pucks might work differently as a bump stop extension, compared to stuffing loose tennis balls inside the coil would? What kind of an engineer, consultant, and Jeep builder were you?
