I was testing my transfer case with the front wheels on the Jeep on jack stands. I noticed when I engaged 4HI and 4LO the front wheels spin opposite of each other. Is this normal? I have a 2006 with stock diff's and stock np231J tcase. Thanks.

That is normal behavior due to the differential. That’s how they work. Same would happen in the rear unless you have certain traction aiding devices like lockers.

Yep, in and Open Differential "No locker or Limited Slip Etc" then when you turn one in a direction the other goes opposite. It's weird for anyone that hasn't ever seen or paid attention.

typical for an open differential, looks odd though when seeing it for the first time.
