I haven't done much to my TJ, but I have been busy with my old scooter.

I sold my Honda ST1300, so because I had a big empty spot where it sat, I decided to get my scooter back out. It has sat in a corner of the carport for the last 5 years. It's a 2005 Yamaha Majesty YP400. I put a new battery in, but it didn't want to start. Turned over but didn't start. I noticed that when I first turn the key, I wasn't hearing the fuel pump. It normally pumps a little each time one turns the key. So, time to replace it. It turned out to be a pretty big job, and I'm not done yet. LOL Took me about 2 to 3 hours to get to the pump.

Here is a pic of it when I first pulled it out of it's resting spot. Just a few cob webs.

Here it is now, after I got everything off to get to the fuel pump.

I need to go to Yamaha and price their pumps and also pick up a tank gasket. Once I get a new pump I will try to get the unit out. I have read that I will have to separate the frame from the bottom of the scoot. That is the 2 bolts to the left of the blue air hose (2 on the other side too) and 2 bolts up front. I have been posting on a Majesty forum and out of 500 views, I got a reply and the guy told me that it is actually possible to remove it without separating the frame, but I have yet to try it. Once I get the pump I will have a go at it. Would sure be nice to not have to separate the frame. I didn't put the scoot on the m/c stand before I started so we would have to tie it up to the carport to be able to take it off the center stand to allow the bottom to drop. I didn't know this till I had already got it all stripped where it sits.

I went to Yamaha today and out of all days to close, they picked today. They are supposed to be open, but there was a note on the door. I just had to laugh as I haven't gone there in 5 years, and the one time I need something, they are closed. LOL

I'll update as I go on with the project, for those that have nothing better to do on their Jeep, but to come to the forum and read about a scooter. LOL :D

Needs more Purple. I have some conversation topics if the scooter forum hasn't already mentioned them;
Did you prep the scoot for storage? (draining fuel etc.)
Have you cleaned/inspected the fuel lines?
Have you pulled the injectors and cleaned/tested them?
My first fuel injected dirt bike (2011 KTM SXF250) was amazing yet keeping the TPS and fuel injectors set was sometimes a pain. If you can get to them it probably wouldn't hurt to clean/test/replace them.
I'm assuming Yamaha would build the same quality in all their line, but their motocross engines were quite reliable back when I was still racing.

I'll be back for the updates!

I know some of these guys get very serious with their scooter builds. I've seen the 50cc crowd where they bore them out, stroke them, and get them to do close to 100mph, haha! Can you imagine?

Umm, no. LOL I did run Stabel (sp) through it before I parked it and I did have a battery tender hooked up. It did get unhooked somehow and I had to buy a new battery, but other then that, that is all I did before I parked it. The gas still smells like gas, so maybe the stable held up for all these years. :D

I just ordered the fuel pump and a gasket off of eBay so it will be Monday of next week before I can get those installed. I went to the dealer and asked about a gasket before ordering them on eBay though, and they wanted 57 dollars just for the gasket and it was back ordered till Sept sometime. Funny how it isn't backordered on eBay. LOL Course it is labeled for other scooters but if you go down and check to see if it fits my model, it says it does. Here's hoping that is right. LOL

Since I have to wait for parts, I will go out and look at the other fuel delivery parts and all. I also have to flush the radiator as my coolant bottle appears to be bone dry. I will get all that done too. :D

Edit to add,,, The tassels were black and purple, but they faded over the years. LOL :D

I had a couple 50cc YSR's back in the day. My husbands was stock but mine had an aftermarket exhaust. He could take off faster, but in the long run my little bike would overtake him with ease!! :D They were a lot of fun. We ended up trading them for a couple roll up doors for our garage. LOL

Sounds like a lot of fun. The guys I used to know were really into the Aprilia SR50 Ditech scooters. Some of those were pretty damn fast for only being 50ccs (though they did have them bored and stroked to 70 or more).

Since I am waiting on parts, today I decided to flush the coolant and put new stuff in. :D

I found the drain plug and took it out. A lot came out. LOL

Ok, really once I took the cap off more came out. so even though the filler resivoir was empty, there was still some coolant in the system. LOL

I used the air compressor to flush the rest out and then reversed the process. I just need to wait till I can start it and let it run a bit, then top it off.

I also replaced the spark plug. I checked the fuel lines and all look good. I will probably run with what is on there. Once I get the fuel pump in and can start it, I will run it for a little while and check things before I put all the plastics back on. I want to see how it is going to run before I mess with the injectors though. I really don't want to mess with them if I don't have too. Funny, I have no problem messing with the Jeep but just dread the scooter. LOL

So that is all for now. Just waiting on the pump and gasket. :D

stable held up for all these years.
Fingers crossed!
mess with the injectors
I think it would be the same or similar to my bike, but it wasn't too hard to pull them out and bench test them with 12v. But honestly, I'm kind of lazy so I'd probably do what you're doing and run it until something tells you it needs attention.

Ok, got the fuel pump out and replaced. Had to separate the frame to get it out, but it is now done. We had to give the scooter a little "boost" to get it to run though. (Sprayed starting fluid) Once it finally was getting fuel, it ran fine and I put it all back together. Good news is, I didn't have any extra screws or bolts. :D

Testing the new pump before putting it all back together.

And finally all back together and parked till I get the registration back. It has been on a non op for the last few year. I would have just paid the fees online but I guess coming off of a non op, the only option is through the mail.

Awesome! Can’t wait to see videos of you hitting some sweet jumps!

Jumps? LOL That was the KLR I had. This is a street scooter. LOL I did take it around the block and I can tell you, it is a lot different the Honda ST1300. LOL I kind of forgot how it actually takes off. I'll get used to it again though.

One thing nice about it being smaller then the ST, was it is a lot easier to maneuver. I can easily get it in and out of the gate by the Jeep and get it parked. :D

I decided since I have to wait for the tags, I might as well shine it up.

Here is a before on the plastic.
