Fueling problems

For the first time in two years my TJ wouldn’t take fuel, the pump would run what seem long enough to fill up the filler hose then kick off it took about 15 minutes to get in three gallons. By using an old ford truck trick and pulling the left rear tire up on a 8 inch block and running the pump as slow as possible I got it to take fuel.
Now this is the first time I have needed fuel sense I installed a 1 3/4 inch front leveling kit, could that throw things out of alignment enough that could effect the gravity flow or could it be something totally different?
Has anybody else ran into this and any suggestions as to what can be done about it?
Thanks
Tim C.

It used to be common to fix the fill issue with a different hose that didn't have the proper bend. That hose would eventually form a kink and/or separate internally blocking the flow.

Cause & effect ? So I ran into the common burp back, spit back fuel situation recently as well. I bought the GM part on ebay for $28
This solved the problem but created another. I never had an issue getting fuel in, the issue was ONLY spit back. Now I have a click off issue. If you don't put gas in super slow it clicks off. Forget about the hands free tab on the gas handle, no setting is slow enough & it clicks off every time pissing off the station attendant who can't set it, walk away, start another customer & return when it clicks full. Our town has A NO SELF SERVICE LAW, so every station has an attendant & it's mandatory full service. It sure is nice when it's cold or raining out, but it also adds .10 -.30 cents per gallon vs a self service station in the next town 5-7 miles away. Not sure what's more annoying the spit back or the click off ? Both suck - spit or swallow ..........NOW WHAT ? ?

Genuine GM # 15131046 Fuel Tank Filler Hose

See post #2 above — The Real Fix. Toss that GM hose which was a bandaid, and do the real fix. It fixes both slow-fill and spit-back.
With the new part installed why would anything be sticking now from day 1 ? Also post # 2 says when using "MECHANICAL FINGERS" if it gets stuck "down" too far open you may still get spit back, which I just resolved. Now i'm stuck in the middle of 2 conflicting issues with the same filler tube old or new. Or are you talking about sanding down the tabs on the plunger vs mechanical hands scenario ? Or are you talking about sanding down the tabs on the spring loaded plunger vs the mechanical hands resolution ?

READ the thread. It's NOT the filler tube, it's the valve in the gas tank.

How many hours & how much of a pain in the ass is dropping the tank & executing sanding the plunger suggestion ?

Thanks for the info, I’m glad it’s something that can be fixed and I figured I’d be dropping the tank to do it.

Kind of sucks to have to do it, but as I understand it dressing the plunger is the only way to correct the issue. Mine acts up on occasion and is on the to-do list, just not at the top.

Mine was in spit-back mode for about 6 months, a nuisance but tolerable. The day the plunger went from stuck-down to stuck-up, no-fill mode, was the day it moved to top priority.
