Gas pedal sitting too low

In my 2003 Sahara, the gas pedal sits really low compared to the brake and clutch, and I don’t really like the placement. I’m considering figuring out a way to get it to sit even with the brake and clutch, maybe putting some washers or something against the firewall over the cable. I was wondering if anybody has already done something similar, or if there is a specific reason why I shouldn’t do this.

I'm guessing you don't want to do that for safety reasons. You don't want to accidentally step on the gas and brake at the same time. Maybe with the gas pedal lower this is less likely to occur.
