Gauges dead, had been intermittent for several years

Have you performed the instrument cluster actuator test where the cluster runs a self diagnosis mode? Only reason I ask is I don't see that specifically mentioned in the thread. If not see the FSM, Section 8, in the TJ Resources section for the necessary steps.

Evidently everything looks good going to the gauges. But when the mechanic tried to run the self diagnosis, it wouldn’t. He thinks there is something not working within the gauge circuit board itself. It would make sense with how the gauges used to go out intermittently, and I would tap on top of the cluster a little hard, and they will come back on. Maybe something was starting to go and it finally corroded enough to not work at all anymore. I’m just trying to figure out now if there’s any way to save my original odometer reading?
