My friend who does HVAC (for years) is having me bring the Jeep over tonight. I will bring a printout of the FSM. (Vacuum pump & a/c gauge set)
Some info on the a/c system

- I replaced broken vacuum lines with proper one from auto store
- heat works well
- blows out of all vents pretty well
- lines are not cold to touch
- compressor doesn’t come on
-compressor is spinning by hand (both ways)
-the compressor pulley, the part with the grooves is not spinning by hand

I’m thinking the system is low on refrigerant, and also, the compressor clutch might be bad. I tried to get it to spin with a paper clip off the lower pressure connector and it did not spin. I’ll get back with updates

I will write a more detailed post tomorrow. So, we checked the relay, fuse, and switches. They were okay. What seems to be the next step is the compressor was not getting any power. So, I need to do a little more research. We might have been looking in the wrong diagram area in the FSM, cause my friend was having a little trouble figuring out the one we were looking at. But I am going to do a little research, because I know it explains what the numbers mean, I just have to find that page again. So, tomorrow I will find it and prepare a little better.

The compressor pulley is not spring by hand? Do you have the belt on? The pulley should turn freely with the belt removed or the pulley bearing is seized but then you would have belt noise

The belt is on, I did not remove it when trying to spin the pulley, although I should have tried when I replaced the serpentine belt a few days ago.

I've been looking at the wiring diagram information section in the FSM. So I have a better idea of what the diagram means. My friend who was helping me yesterday works pretty fast, so I will try and slow him down, maybe record while asking him what he's doing. We checked the voltage, and continuity as I mentioned in an earlier post. Ended up finding no power was going to the compressor.

Now I have a little more reading to do because my friend did not want to just chase the issue without being able to understand the diagram. From what I can see, the next connection is at C103, which is at the rear of the engine.

Also my check engine light is off now that the compressor plug connector is off.

The belt is stoping the pulley from turning start the engine the belt will turn the pulley. You will hear it if the bearing is bad.

Remove the A/c relay and check for power at pins 85 &86 one should have power. Check pins 30 & 87 one should have power. If not check corresponding fuse. Jump 30 to 87 the compressor should kick on if it does check refrigerant pressure, engine off, pressure should be close to ambient temperature. If pressures are low fix leak
