Most of the time I just use the camp fire (hobo packets or bring a grate) or a backpacking stove. If I'm cooking for more I'll bring my Coleman two burner with a 10" pan or two.
I don't know about CO but here in WA & OR & ID & CA there is burn ban. No open fires or charcoal fires are allowed and they won't lift it until Sept or Oct or even Nov if it is a dry fall.
