Hi all. I thought I would share my results after installing H&R 52107 1" Springs. Since before and after questions are quite common with this setup, I thought it wouldn't hurt to share some more results. All components were completely factory before lift. 2004 Jeep TJ Rockey Mountain Edition. Tires before and after are the same KO2 235/75R15. In addition to the spring lift, I decided to tackle everything in the suspension and steering in one shot since all components were original and bushings were looking tired. Parts replaced:

Suspension

  • 1” lift coil springs all around - H&R 52107
  • Coil spring isolators all around - OE (Original Equipment) Moog
  • Bump stops - OE Dorman
  • Rancho RS5000X shocks all around - 0-2" option
  • Upper and lower front control arms - OE Moog
  • Upper and lower rear control arms - OE Moog
  • Front track bar - OE Moog
  • Rear track bar - OE Moog
  • Sway bar bushings front and rear - OE Moog
  • Front sway bar links - OE Moog. In hind site, this is the one component I wish I upgraded but did not, with JKS quick disconnects. Can still be done very easily if I find is necessary.
  • Rear sway bar links - OE Moog
Steering

Jeep ZJ tie rod upgrade. Thicker component upgrade. Simple bolt on replacement, no modifications needed. Photo provided from another thread.

Jeep ZJ Steering.jpg

  • Moog ES3096L – upgrade left outer tie rod
  • Moog ES2079S – adjusting sleeve
  • Moog DS1312 – upgrade left inner tie rod
  • Moog DS1430 – OE TJ draglink / connecting tie rod
  • Moog ES2079S – adjusting sleeve
  • Moog ES3096L – OE TJ tie rod end at pitman arm
  • Rancho RS5000 steering damper

The Jeep nearly sits level now. Rear seat in with Bestop soft top both before and after. No additional weight.

I have only driven for roughly 15km (Canada) since the upgrade. Very minor off roading for a few km only so far, but initial impressions are a nice improvement in feel.

In the next 1-2 weeks I'll be able to climb some hills and really give it an off road test to see how much is improved.

I will almost certainly be going to a larger 31x10.50 from the current 29" tire in the coming months. I want to ride on the same tires for a while first to really get some perspective on suspension only differences over factory.

Thanks for sharing your results. You mentioned that you had a nice improvement to feel. Do you know what shocks were replaced with the Ranchos?

Nice looking jeep btw

I have yet to do the ZJ upgrade, but the rest of your work was basically the same as what I did with similar results. I too skipped the JKS disconnects, but probably will get them eventually. And I also replaced the swaybar bushings with the Moog product, front and rear. Thanx for the VERY nice and clear pictorial - it helps!

How do the Moog replacement control arms compare to the OEM ones? Several of the replacements I have seen appear to use thinner metal than OEM.

Moog is generally very good product. In my experience they don't ever make a part of inferior quality to OEM for any vehicle. These controls arms seem to be good quality, but I did not take a close notice to the metal thickness vs the originals. The originals are gone now so I can't compare at this point. Sorry.

Love the same H&R 52107 1" Spring Lift with Rancho RS5000X 0-2" on my Wrangler. It sits perfectly, and my 30" General Grabbers are closer to most advertised 31" tires, so it's a perfect combination.

Pretty sure they're the same.
