Halloween golf cart parade in our neighborhood

Pretty neat. My folk's cottage is in a sleepy little town in northern Michigan. He wanted a golf cart to run back and forth to the beach. They are mostly street legal here too. We built him one over a winter one year...

Started with a 36V E-Z-Go

Turned it into a 48V 4 seater.

We should add Halloween to the event list that includes 4th of July and Christmas in our neighborhood. This was a few years ago.

Just an observation: As soon as golf is associated with ANYTHING, the price skyrockets. If golf is your thing, I guess its OK, but hard pass here.

I don't golf, but I can tell you the prices here are more than reasonable. I'm living in a 3500 square foot house with an upgraded kitchen, a brand new pool with attached spa, all built in 2015. I paid 339k, so I'm feeling very, very good about that

In Oregon this same house would be around 700-800k.

That would approach or exceed $500,000 here.

To me this is something you wouldn't see in many other places other than Arizona and possibly Florida.

I was in a Kohl's once when I was a senior in high school. I was with a buddy of mine and our (platonic) female friend who was doing some Christmas shopping for her younger sister. We noticed one of the employees, about our age, was in possession of some assets that to an 18 year old male were impossible to resist staring at. We were so shameless about it that LP could tell what was going on through the security cameras. They called her department phone and told her what was going on. She came out and handed me a piece of paper with her phone number on it. She was in college, a couple years older than me and I had no idea what I was doing. We dated casually for a few months and then she moved back to California to coach basketball at her old high school.

The question then becomes "what about similar houses in non-golf neighborhoods?". Here in Florida, a house in a golf neighborhood is 30% to 50% more than the same thing elsewhere. Ditto for HOA fees. I don't know if its the snob appeal many attach to golfing, or just the expense of building and maintaining the course. *shrug* Waste of a perfectly good rifle range in my mind!

I think in most cases, that's true. Somehow my neighborhood avoided that it seems. It's like some sort of secret in Colorado. There's pretty much no way I could have bought this house and lot if it had been anywhere else in the state. 3100sf house on 0.9 acres with 100+ ~150 year old ponderosa pines. Built in 1978 with a 10 year old kitchen and bath remodel. Pretty sure it would cost double or more if it was 20 miles closer to I-70.
