Has anyone had this trim off? I want to remove it prior to repainting our hardtop. I assume that the glass is glued in and that this trim is just a T shape and that it Is just stuck into the groove between the top and glass? And replacement just involves jamming the new one into the same groove?

I tried pulling on it a bit and it is really in there. Figured it was worth asking before messing it up...

Thanks

It's probably a capital "J" shape. Not like the "J" I just typed, but a "J" with a "T" top. While the top of the "J" (or "T") is totally visible, the bottom of the" J" wraps under the glass. Regardless of "J" or "T" they are stuck in the "glue" that holds the glass in.

I am only guessing "J" because I've never done hard top side glass but they are what is used on most stationary automotive glass.

The only real way to get it out is have the glass removed and reinstalled and usually the trim isn't reusable and needs to be replaced. Heck, even the "T"s usually end up replaced with "J"s.

Anyone know for sure? Someone on here must have replaced this trim at some point?
