Has anyone installed duallies on their TJ?

unless you start with more wheelbase your gonna end up with an 11" drive shaft with a 20*+ pinion angle.
if a mud skipper is the goal i'd consider wider rims b4 a dually axle. some of the paddle tires are real wide.
 
Think of this way, no mud bog competitor runs duel rear wheels. They run tall skinny tires to cut through the mud, not float on top.

To suggest a 5,000 lb+ vehicle is going to float across mud because of the tires is.....special.

Anyone got photo evidene of a duel wheel truck, like an F350 floating on mud?

Why do big rigs (Peterbuilts, etc) get stuck in the mud so much? They sink and they have 8 wheels in the back....
 
tall n thin or fat paddles, but it comes down to treads and wheel RPM's at the end.
not something easily produced from a TJ runnin a dually.

 
Jeep did it with the CJ2 for agricultural use.

You do realize that duel wheels are not the solution to gain more traction, right?

Well, not for arguments sake,
but one logging company I used to work for provided me with a 4x4 F350 dually
( skinny tires ) service truck that I used to take places in 2 low that I never thought I’d make there and back.
One of those rare cases where torque, weight and tire footprint was perfect !

The purpose of duallys is for towing, mostly fifth wheels. A wider contact patch in the rear gives you more side to side stability. And two standard tires are more economical than a crazy wide single tire.

Also redundancy. One tire blows and you still have a good shot at controlling the trailer and safely stopping.

The only possible application on a Wrangler is to give you a much wider track. And I would argue an extended axle with the usual number of wheels would work just as well for that purpose.
